Teaching

I have taught in a variety of venues over the past several years — ranging from small groups of middle school students to large groups of high school beginners. I also enjoy private teaching — both violin and viola — as well as coaching chamber music. Please contact me if you would like to inquire further about my teaching policies and availability!

Long Island City High School

I currently teach two days a week at the Long Island City High School as a part of my fellowship with The Academy. At LICHS, I teach beginning, intermediate, and advanced string orchestra. For more about this experience, look for my article in the November 2008 Strad Magazine or visit The Academy's website: www.acjw.org

The Albert Schweitzer Fellowship

The mission of The Albert Schweitzer Fellowship is to develop “leaders in service” – individuals who are dedicated and skilled in helping underserved communities, and whose example influences and inspires others. The Fellowship provides an interdisciplinary, service-based learning model that combines mentored, entrepreneurial, community-based service projects; structured opportunities for individual and group reflection; and lifelong fellowship with service-oriented colleagues.

I was a fellow in 2006-07 and my Fellowship project involved designing and teaching a music appreciation class and violin lessons at an after-school program in South Boston. I taught a small group of middle school boys weekly for the 2006-07 academic year, and experienced first-hand the trials and joys of creating a curriculum, of dreaming up a project and encountering obstacles and seeing it to fruition. I've recorded these experiences in a blog for the New England Conservatory website: http://today.newenglandconservatory.edu/blog/2006/09/.

Private lessons

I am also available for violin and viola lessons, audition preparation, and chamber music coachings. Please contact me for more information!
